Wowee! Can you believe the outpouring of love, good wishes and all round wonderfulness that has been shown here since my last post? Thank you so very much for your comments and emails. I'm always amazed that somebody out there across the oceans is reading along and so many lurkers came out into the open and made themselves known.
Thankyouthankyouthankyou.
While the next few months get busier attending to our house move, wedding plans and the new direction that the business may be going in, I have decided to make it a priority to stay focused on the simple things. Not to think about the enormity of the situations whizzing around my head but to stay true to the things I know make me very happy. Contrary to popular belief (you know who you are, monkeys) I am very easy to please. The simple things make my life complete and I could name on one hand the things I need to make my life all that I ever wanted it to be. It is only when I panic and complicate things that it all goes awry. With this in mind I am starting a new series today called The Sweet Simplicity Of Happiness . It's based on the simple premise of little things that I come across which make it seem like the sun is shining, the sky is blue and there is an enormous big bowl of sweets that I can dive into.
Today begins with the things I bought while on holiday in Switzerland. I love it when you unpack your suitcase, all of the dirty washing comes tumbling out but in there somewhere you have all of your lovely purchases. They always look slightly different when you get them home and try them out in new places over the house but I'm relived to say that I'm pleased with these little trinkets and I wanted to show them to you! So here goes...........

My Swiss enamelware milk jug.
Of course whenever I shop nowadays my mind turns to the new house, you'll notice this running theme throughout my recent purchases. I found this milk jug in a wonderfully stinky deli on the main street in Sass Fee. Stinky because of all the cheeses for sale but thankfully they didn't permeate the jug and it remains odourless. I can imagine this little fella being used at breakfast time in the summer and perhaps I'll get it out when I have a family and the kiddos are just starting to eat at the table like little grown ups.
Okay, onto the next item.......

I first saw these on a trip to Zurich last spring. They are potato warmers and I love the rustic look they have and the Swiss flag trim. You can pop your tatties into them straight from the oven and then pop the bag on the table. It will keep them warm right throughout the meal. I can see this little sack working in the summer during a bar-b-q in the garden and in the winter throughout a feast by the fire.
And now these little princes.......
I had to purchase them simply on account of the price!! I am a huge fan of Le Creuset but I find it's recent renaissance has driven the prices through the blooming roof. It's gone from a 1970's orange kitchen stalwart to a must seen fashionistas cooking accessory and I find the ensuing price rise a little hard to stomach. So, when I saw these bean pots being sold in pairs for a mere thirty swiss francs, which is just over twelve English pounds I hurriedly added them to my bag.....after paying for them of course. I know that LBH and I will collect the Almond range over time but it's nice to have splashes of colour dotted about the place.
And then there's the chocolate........
The Swiss are famous for their chocolate and we couldn't return home empty handed. I think we bought about 8 bars while we were out there but seemed to return home with significantly less than that. I put it down to all the calories burnt while we were nearly killing ourselves up the mountains. Chocolate definitely helps to calm the nerves!!!!!!!
But the piece de resistance is this.....................
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! I have always wanted a little Swiss clock with which to hang on the wall and stare at for hours at a time. It's not a cuckoo clock as I know us well enough to know that we would only end up covering it with a cushion so as to stop it making a noise in the night. It is not one of those super dooper really expensive hand crafted clocks either. It is a simple, colourful traditional Swiss clock and it hangs on my wall a treat.
It even has a small plastic woman sitting merrily on a swing. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!
If you were to delve into my mind after having read this post, with me saying that these things make me happy, you would glean this information from it.............
tin jugs with cows on them, insulated sacks that hold potatoes, cheap crockery, chocolate and small white wooden clocks with plastic ladies hanging from them are all things that make me happy from the inside out.
Am I satisfied with this being the obvious assumption that one would make?
I'm one million and one percent happy with that my friend.
Have a glorious weekend.
Cherry xx
